Learn to blow glass —
Private lessons in Berlin & Potsdam
You stand at the furnace, gather your own glass and shape it yourself. No demonstration, no watching from the sidelines. Our courses start from zero – no prior experience needed.
Classes take place in Geltow on Lake Schwielowsee, between Potsdam and Werder. A maximum of three people per course, so everyone gets enough time at the furnace.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
We start with simple geometric shapes: solid spheres and paperweights, then blown cylinders and drinking glasses. Before each demonstration, I sketch the steps on a clipboard. A tripod tracks and films the process so you can stay focused on your work and have both photos and an explanatory video as course material afterward.
Schedule of a course day
Work takes place between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., ideally in two three-hour blocks with a long break in between. Glassblowing is physically demanding, and the break helps to acclimatize to the heat. Course days are Monday to Saturday; Sunday is a rest day.

Accommodation and meals are optional.
Two consecutive days are ideal because operating the oven only becomes worthwhile after six booked hours, and you can do significantly more on the second day.
Arrival and accommodation
Participants from out of town can stay in a room in the house. Neighbors on the street also rent out vacation apartments. Lake Schwielowsee is right on the doorstep, Potsdam and Werder are accessible by bus, and a supermarket and bus stop are a ten-minute walk away.
What you wear
Cotton, no synthetics, and closed shoes.

Do I need any prior knowledge? No, we start from scratch.

Can I take my pieces with me right away? The glass needs to cool overnight in the annealing oven. Pieces from the last day of the course can only be removed the following day; this is important for departure.
