Service Description

In this intensive course, you'll go through the entire process from the initial mold to the finished glass object. You'll build plaster molds, turn wooden molds, and develop tools that are used directly at the furnace. Each mold is tested—in the end, you'll have a unique, self-designed, and blown glass piece that wouldn't have been possible without that mold. Course outline: Days 1 & 2 — Mold Making: Materials science, tools, design and creation of your own plaster and wooden molds Day 3 — Mold Blowing: The molds you've built are brought to the furnace—up to two finished glass objects Day 4 — Cold Working: Cutting, grinding, and finishing What you'll learn: Materials science and tool use for plaster and wooden molds Design and modeling of your own creations Mold making for free-form glassblowing Optimizing mold durability and detail accuracy Suitable for glassblowers and designers who want to create their own molds, artists who experiment with glass, and anyone who wants to understand how mold making and glassblowing are connected.
